Easter Sunday we saw the weather would be very windy in the La Sals. I’m not sure of much short approach and protected skiing there so we decided to drive south to Monticello and ski in the Abajos. Since we only had the morning to ski and the conditions were forecast also be windy we skied the old Blue Mountain Ski Resort outside of Monticello. The resort is long since closed but the run is still mostly clear of trees and brush. We ascended the ski run and then descended the ski lift cut through the trees. It was novel. Not the most exciting skiing, but neat. The lift poles and lines have been removed so the lift cut through the trees is sort of a narrow tree couloir.
